Let's learn more about our ocean habitiat and see whether this year's carbon footprint have lessen the impact or worsen our ocean waters and what the future holds for the water and us. Dr. John Nightingale Small Bio: Since I retired from OceanWise at the start of 2019, I have been working in the arctic. I am a Board member of POLAR – the official name is Polar Knowledge Canada. POLAR operates the Canadian High Arctic Research Station in Cambridge Bay Nunavut and is charge with the aggregation and distribution of arctic knowledge (both scientific data and traditional knowledge) across the federal government. It is a new, and very small (by Government of Canada standards) agency and has been going through its “growing pains” getting its strategic goals in place and defining its activities. I have also been working with Environment and Climate Change Canada working to expand public awareness, interest and curiosity about our amazing environment including the weather, climate, and all of the changes happening there. There is so much going on within ECCC that is of interest to all of us – not just scientists, interesting information that isn’t getting out to Canadians. The Department is taking action to change that situation. Expanded public engagement is something I remain passionate about. |
